Cowden Village Hall was built in 1957 and is held as a public charitable trust formed for the benefits of the local and neighbouring communities.

We are a registered charity with The Charities Commission with No: 286856. All proceeds from bookings or donations are ploughed back into maintaining and updating this community asset. Any donations are very welcome to enable us to enhance our facilities.

Where are we?

The Hall is in the beautiful village of Cowden which is in Kent, but on the border with both Surrey and Sussex. Approximately 4.5 miles from the town of Edenbridge and 6 miles from East Grinstead. Our post code is TN8 7HU and What3Words: leader.plug.enter

Pat and her husband John moved back to Kent from their birthplace (Geordieland), along with their miniature schnauzer Billy, in 2023. ‘We love Cowden, village life and being near our family. John’s passion is Newcastle United and mine is friends, cooking and eating.’

Kate Ellis

Kate moved to Cowden in December 2020 and lives in the heart of the village. She is a member of the horticultural society and tennis club, a guardian of the village’s phone box library and a regular at the village pubs (The Fountain and The Queen’s Arms). Kate works full time as a University Lecturer. ‘I love living in this beautiful village, where my tiny dog (Gertie) and I have been made to feel very welcome. Volunteering my time to the village is a great way for me to pay back to the community’.

The Trustees
Georgina Belcher – Secretary

Georgina Belcher, Secretary and Trustee, has lived in Cowden since 1998, on Furnace Lane until 2023, and is now living on the High Street with her husband Harry. She ran her own business from home for five years and has three grown-up children and three grandchildren.

John Pearson- Treasurer

John is a retired management accountant and has been part of the Cowden community for the past 15 years.

Mike Clark – Chairman of Trustees

Mike has been a Cowden resident for 14 years, His interest in our village hall stems from a desire to see this valuable village asset used as intended by the community. Our new trustees aim to ensure the hall is self funding to protect its future.

Toni Young

Toni moved to Cowden in July 2022 and lives in Church Street with her partner Gregory Collins and her grown up children. She is a member of the horticultural society, has an allotment and enjoys riding ponies whenever possible! Toni is a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years experience in accounting and IT and runs her own online practice from home.
